alike. Please insert the word "please" in front each of these:

and dark slacks.
-- No large earrings.
-- No cologne, aftershave or perfume at Thursday rehearsals or especially
Sunday morning and performances.
-- Don't turn your back on the congregation to reach for music or hymnals.
Keep them in your folder at the ready.

Cares and
Concerns
Soprano Joyce Lang is hospitalized in St. John's Mercy
Medical Center for treatment of a pulmonary embolism. The blood clot in
Joyce's lungs was discovered following a CT scan at the University of
Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. The radiologist found the
life-threatening condition after Joyce left for a return trip to St. Louis.
She was hospitalized Saturday afternoon. Joyce will continue her chemotherapy
treatment in St. Louis following recommended changes by physicians at
M.D. Anderson. Joyce asks for our thoughts and prayers.
Soprano Marlene
Kuhlman will undergo surgery to remove a gall stone on Thursday,
July 27.
Bass John
Lemen is on the mend following a broken shoulder suffered in
a recent bicycle accident while trail riding.
Yes, there were unexpected
"lights out" for Chancel Choir members after last week's storms.
Sorprano Carol Lemke reports her home was in the dark
from the storm on Wednesday evening until Saturday, but "lots of
dry ice" saved all of their stored food. It was a double outage for
Alto Carol and Bass Charles Shaffer
for about 14 hours. Once restored, Carol's sister and mother moved in
for 8 hours, only to return following the second storm on Friday.

Thursday Night Dinner at To Surf & Sirloin
The traveling summer Thursday night dinner this week will make
a stop at Surf & Sirloin at 13090 Manchester Road. Surf & Sirloin
is located on Manchester Road just west of the what used to be the Olive
Garden. As usual, we will meet there at 6:30 p.m. this Thursday. If you'd
like to join us, please reply to this email or call Sandy Ford at 636-227-5749
by noon on Wednesday.
Music Is Missing
The Chancel Choir librarians are distressed. There are more than 200 pieces
of music missing because choir members failed to turn it in at the end
of the season. At between $2 and $6 a copy, that's a sizable missing treasurer.
So go through your piano bench, glove box, trunk, kitchen counter or anywhere
else things accumulate at your house and see if you can find some of the
choir's music. You can turn it in the next time you are in the church
building. Librarians say the return boxes are sitting in the Music Room
and they'd love to find something in them this summer.
Cares and
Concerns
As far as we know, Chancel Choir members experienced no injuries or major
property damage during Wednesday night's storm. No one has reported being
without power so far. The church offered Fellowship Hall as a cooling
shelter, but by Thursday evening, no one had reported there. At least
two choir members were at Busch Stadium when the storm hit. Bass
Buddy Rains and Soprano Sarah Biolchini McMillen
witnessed hurricane force winds, torrential rains, and damage to the stadium.
When Sarah and her husband, Joe, returned home after the game they found
a tree had fallen on their car. Bass Larry Woolweaver reported
that lightening wiped out television sets and electronics at his condo
in Ellisville. If you know choir members out of power or who suffered
damage or injury, please let us know.

What's Happening?
Check The Calendar
One look at the thermometer says summer is quickly marching by. But the
thermometer won't tell you when the Chancel Choir's fall kickoff party
is or when choir rehearsals begin. No, for that you'll need to chec your
bright purple official Chancel Choir Calendar. That's the one with all
of the pictures that you picked up the last night of rehearsal in June
and promptly hung on your kitchen wall. All of the dates for this fall's
events, concerts, parties, the retreat, and the kickoff are on the calendar.
In case you didn't get one, there are some calendars left in the Music
Room. We're asking for a $5 donation to cover a portion of the expense
of producing each calendar.
